Honey Sesame BBQ Beef and Rice
serves 2-3 total cooking time: 45mins
beef skewers ingredients
- 1 flank steak sliced into 1-inch pieces
- 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 8-10 skewers (soaked in water to avoid burning)
- 3 tbsp cooking oil
honey sesame rice ingredients
- 1 small carrot diced
- 1/2 sweet onion diced
- 1 celery diced
- 1/2 cup tomatoes diced
- 500 ml chicken broth (in place of the water as per rice cooking instructions)
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 cup balsamic rice
- *sesame seed for garnish
- *green onions for garnish
steak instructions
- combine marinade and steak, let sit for at least 30 mins, best overnight
- take the steak out 30 mins before grilling
- preheat grill skillet on medium/high or BBQ at 400 degree
- grease grill with a little bit of cooking oil
- take the skewers and weave a few pieces of steak
- remember to spread the steak out on the skewer, you want it to have room to cook
- place the skewer on the grill for 4-6 minutes on each side, only flip once if possible
- you can brush some cooking oil on them to keep them for more flavor
- turn often if heat is too high for consistent cooking
- remove and serve with rice
- preheat a small pot on medium/high
- saute the carrots, onion, celery for a few minutes, add the tomatoes
- when the veggies are cooked down a little, add chicken broth, honey, sesame oil, and rice
- bring to a boil, then turn down low and continue to cook until rice is done
- (follow instructions on rice package depending on the type you use)
- garnish with sesame seeds and green onions
