Homemade Vietnamese ‘Chao’ Rice Porridge- Best for Upset Stomach

My hubby wasn’t feeling so great today, so I decided to making him some Vietnamese ‘Chao’ rice porridge. This is the best meal to have if you’re having an upset stomach or not feeling too well. The rice porridge is easy to digest and has vitamins that will help you fight your cold. Give this easy recipe a try!

Vietnamese ‘Chao’ Rice Porridge 

Serves 2-3 Total cooking time: 2 hr

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup white rice, rinsed
  • 2 chicken thighs
  • 1/2 onion diced
  • 2 pieces ginger about 1 inch each
  • 2 anise star
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp chicken bouillon 
  • 9 cups water

 Directions 

  1. In a large pot, add all ingredients 
  2. Bring to a boil, stir and simmer for 1-2 hours until smooth 
  3. Add more water if you find it too thick
  4. Left overs can be refrigerated and reheated the next day, just add 1 cup of water and bring to a boil before serving
