The Best Beef Brisket Banh Mi - Oven Slow-Cooked Beef Brisket Sandwich

                         Oven Slow-Cooked Beef Brisket Sandwich

This is the most delicious Banh Mi you can make with my easy 'Pulled Beef Brisket" recipe. A real flavourful sandwich with just the right amount of BBQ sweetness and tang from the pickled carrots, and the juicy, tender pulled beef brisket will probably be the best sandwich you've ever had! Give this recipe a try when you're craving a banh mi!

Serves 2 Total Cooking Time 6-8hrs

Ingredients for Banh Mi

  • 2 cups cooked shredded beef brisket

  • 1 carrot, ribboned

  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 2 brioche buns

  • 3 tbsp bbq sauce

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce

  • 2 tbsp mayo

Ingredients For Brisket

  • 1 brisket (2–4 lbs)

  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite kind)

  • 2 tbsp Cajun spice

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • 0.5 L boiling water (approx. 2 cups)

  • 1 tbsp beef bouillon (paste or powder)

  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep
Preheat oven to 330°F (or set your slow cooker to high). Glaze brisket with BBQ sauce and rub in Cajun spice evenly over all sides. Season lightly with salt and pepper.

  2. Sear the Brisket
In a large Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pan, melt butter over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until lightly browned, about 2–3 minutes per side.

  3. Cook the Aromatics
Add sliced onions to the pot and sauté until translucent, about 3–4 minutes.

  4. Build the Broth
Carefully pour in the boiling water. Stir in beef bouillon. Drizzle honey directly over the brisket.

  5. Slow Cook to Tenderness
Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid. Bake in the oven for 4–5 hours, or until brisket is fork-tender. Alternatively, cook on high in a slow cooker for 6–7 hours.

  6. When ready to serve, remove portion from pot, use a fork and knife, and pull apart meat for an easy pulled brisket sandwich

  7. Pickle the carrots and shallots
Ribbon the carrot, and shallots - in a bowl add apple cider vinegar and water, place carrots and shallots in the liquid, cover and let sit in the fridge for at least 20 mins

  8. Make the sauce
In a little bowl, mix together hoisin sauce and bbq sauce

  9. Put the sandwich together
Lay down the brioche buns, add a layer of mayo, and bbq sauce mixture - add pulled brisket, layer with carrots and shallots (squeeze the extra liquid out so your banh mi won't be soggy), add parsley

Enjoy!
