Cafe Style Chewy and Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

I love these chocolate chip cookies. Chewy and soft, with a hint of caramel, these Chocolate Chip Cookies are just like the ones that we serve at our cafe. A perfect treat for any cookie monster, these cookies are flavorful and really reminds you of the big classic chocolate chip cookies from childhood. The dough may seem a little finicky but with the extra love, these chocolate chip cookies will be the best you've ever had. Make sure to really brown the butter and allow it to cool, so that the additional butter added will help the dough hold it's structure and taste. If you find your dough a little wet simply refrigerate until the dough holds as balls. Give this delicious cookie recipe a try!


Chewy and Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
 baking time: 20 minutes makes up to 12 large cookies
ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3//4 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, divided
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract 
  • 1 1/2 cup chocolate chips
directions
  1. preheat oven to 375 degrees, line a baking tray with parchment paper
  2. in a small bowl, whisk together dry ingredients; flour, salt, and baking soda, set aside
  3. on medium heat, melt and brown 1/2 cup butter, about 5-6 minutes, transfer to a heatproof bowl and let cool, about 3-4 minute 
  4. cut the remaining butter into cubes and add to butter
  5. using a medium bowl or stand mixer, combine butter and sugars until smooth
  6. add egg and egg yolks, whisk until smooth, add vanilla
  7. fold in dry ingredients just until incorporated, add chocolate chips
  8. the batter should be soft but still hold it's the shape, rest dough in the fridge for 5-7 minutes
  9. using  a teaspoon measuring spoon, portion 3 tbsp balls, place them 2 inches apart 
  10. bake for 8-10 minutes rotate the baking tray for even baking, they should be deep golden brown around the edges
  11. let the cookies rest on the baking tray for 5-7 minutes to cool and continue finish baking
  12. store these delicious chocolate chip cookies in a ziplock bag at room temperature for 3 days, or enjoy them with the same freshness by freezing them, simply microwave or dethaw and enjoy!
