The easiest way to make smash burgers at home - Homemade McDonald's Patties
I love making burgers at home, but the long cook time and guessing if the patty was done was a real struggle. That's why smash burgers have become my go-to! They’re super thin, which means they cook fast and come out perfectly every time. They also remind me of McDonald's burgers, with the thin patties, and smokey flavour. You can make homemade McDonald's Big Mac with some mac sauce and these patties. Here’s my easy, foolproof way to make smash burgers at home.
Smash Burgers
Makes 4 Patties Total Cooking Time: 30 mins
Ingredients
- 600g ground beef
- 4 tsp smoked paprika
- Parchment paper
- Butter for cooking
- 4 Burger buns, your choice of toppings and condiments
Directions
1. Prep the Patties: Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and roll each into a ball.
2. Shape: Lay a large piece of parchment paper on your counter. Place a beef ball on the paper and press down with your hand, flattening it into a thin, large circle.
3. Season: Sprinkle about 1 tsp of smoked paprika evenly over each patty on one side.
4. Cook: Heat a large skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tbsp of butter. Peel a patty off the parchment, seasoned side up and place it in the hot pan.
5. Sear**: Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes, until the patty is nicely browned and cooked through.
Serve these with your favorite toppings and buns for a quick, delicious burger night at home! Enjoy!
