Recipe: "Must-Try" Delicious McDonald's Copycat Italian Pesto Burger
This quick and easy copycat burger will make you think twice about going to McDonald's!
McDonald's Copycat Italian Pesto Burger
Serves 2 Cooking Time: 10 mins Total Cooking Time: 25 mins
- 1 chicken breast, sliced horizontally to create 2 thin pieces
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 tbsp Clubhouse La Grille Montreal Chicken Spice or 1 tsp of cayenne, chili spice, paprika, garlic powder, rosemary, salt, pepper
- 1/4 Rice Krispies Cereal or Panko Japanese breadcrumbs
- 4 tbsp breadcrumb
- 1 egg
- cooking oil
- 1 cup fresh spinach or spring mix
- 4 slice tomatoes
- 2 burger buns or Italian style buns
pesto mayonnaise sauce
directions- use Kirkland Basil Pesto with 1/4 cup mayo
OR Create your own Pesto Mayonnaise by blending the following ingredients:
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves ( about 1 bunch)
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/4 cup pine nuts or walnuts
- 1/4 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano or Pecorino-Romano
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- kosher salt to taste
- preheat a skillet on high
- add cooking oil to about 1 inch, you want a little more oil
- line three bowls, add flour and spice to one, add cereal or breadcrumb to the second, and an egg for the third. Mix each bowl well.
- drench chicken in the first bowl, then second, then third
- add chicken to skillet
- cook until golden, about 5-7 minutes
- flip and finish cooking
- remove excess oil by laying the crispy chicken on a paper towel
- on a plate assemble the burger, layer bun with spinach, tomatoes, and pesto mayo
- Serve with Cajun or sweet potato fries!
