Poodle Pet Grooming Tips

How to Keep Your Poodle White and Clean

Poodles are amazing dogs, they are extremely smart, gentle and playful. The best part is that they are easy to train and always seemingly happy. Poodles are very alert and always ready to go. They are great with kids and other dogs. It's important to socialize dogs well with other people and animals in their earlier development. Dogs are like kids, they're adorable but do require additional attention for optimal development and happiness.

'Pet Care Tips: How to Keep Your Dog White and Clean'

1. Wash their food dish daily - Discoloration often happens around the mouth from yeast from the wetness after they eat. It's important to keep their dish clean so there isn't any potential for discoloration.

2. Towel dry their face after a messy meal or snack - simply wet a paper towel and give your pet a wipe. They will look much neater and prevents staining on their fur.

3. Change their water regularly - I recommend changing their water in the morning, and evening with meals but also in-between in the summer days when they're extra thirsty. As well, discoloration often happens due to minerals in the water. Change the water if you find that your dog is getting discolored tears, this should stop after change the source of the water. We give Wally different types of bottled water because tap water has too many minerals and it makes him have red tears.

4. Brush, Trim and Groom - I trim Wally's face and chin hair every other week, I find the hair around his eyes gets a little discolored if I don't groom him regularly. He enjoys the extra attention when he's freshly groomed, he know he looks pretty!

5. Wash his face and paws after every walk - Your pet is picking up a lot of crap when they're sniffing the entire block. Washing their face and paws after walks really help with the smell and discoloration of their fur. We simply pop Wally in the tub and give his paws a quick rinse, then with a damp towel we wipe down his eyes and face.  We finish by towel drying him. He loves his routine and feels much happier with clean paws.
