"Royal Fish Bowl" Cod with Sweet Mushroom Sauce on Rice
Serves 2 Total Time: 25 mins
fish ingredients
- 1 cod steak or any white fish steak
- 2 slices of ginger
- cooking oil
mushroom sauce ingredients
- 4-5 king mushroom sliced or any other mushroom
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp rice wine vinegar
- pinch salt and pepper
- 2 cups cooked white rice
*instead of cooking rice with water, I added chicken broth for more flavor and a pinch of salt and pepper
directions
directions
- preheat a non-stick pan on medium/high, fill with 1-inch cooking oil
- add the slices of ginger to the oil
- dry fish on the paper towel, add to pan *be careful of oil splatters
- cook fish until golden, then flip and continue to cook until done
- remove and boned, set aside
- in a small saucepan bring sauce to a boil, turn down, add mushrooms
- cook until soft
- on a plate, fill a measuring cup with rice, and flip onto the plate
- pile the flaky fish on top and cover with a few spoonfuls of mushroom sauce
- garnish with minced green onions
