Crispy Saucy Bang Bang Chicken with Rice
I love crispy fried chicken, especially when they're nugget-sized. They're fun and easy to eat, just like this Bang Bang Chicken recipe that I'm going to share with you. The panko-fried battered chicken pieces covered in the special sauce will become a family favourite for sure. Serve it with rice or have them by themselves, this dish is great for dinner or snacking. Bang Bang Chicken
serves 3-4 total cooking time: 45 mins
fried chicken ingredients
- 1/2 cup cooking oil, or more as needed
- 1 lb chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp hot sauce
- pinch of salt and pepper
- 2 cups panko
- 2 serving cooked rice and cooked veggies (optional)
sauce ingredients
- 1/4 cup mayo
- 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 tsp franks red hot
directions
- combine ingredients for the sauce, mix well, and set aside
- preheat pan with oil on medium
- in a large bowl combine flour, egg cornstarch, hot sauce, salt, and pepper, mix well
- add chicken to batter and drench pieces
- fill a bowl with panko
- when oil is hot, press chicken into panko
- fry chicken in batches, add chicken to the oil, let cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden
- remove and set on a bowl lined with a paper towel
- serve with rice, and veggies, drizzle with sauce
