How to Propagate Peperomia Plants - Propagation Tips
Propagation can be a little intimidating until you realize that plants are resilient and want to grow. I love propagating because you get new plants without having to buy them.
My top tip for successful propagation is patience, growing takes time, all good things take time. Depending on when you’re propagating and your climate, it can take many weeks for your new plant to form roots. It is ideal to give it the best conditions to grow by ensuring the soil is moist and it’s enclosure is humid. I usually place my cuttings next to a windows where it can get indirect light most of the day.
To propagate peperomia plants you just need a few leaves from a healthy plant. Remove the stem, you’ll want to give your leaf cutting a few days to callus over before placing it on damp soil to prevent rotting. Cover the plant to create a more humid environment and ensure to moisten the soil when it gets dry.
This new peperomia plant took over 6 weeks to get here, just give them time, a nice reminder for us to be patient with ourselves too. (Note: I live in Canada and it’s winter, you’re cutting with sprout much sooner in spring/summer)
my other tips for propagating new plants:
☀️ place indirect light
☔️ cover to create humidity
💧keep soil moist
When plant is 2-3 inches, repot into a small pot, ensure that soil doesn’t dry out when it’s small to keep plant happy.
I think this little peperomia is super cute, will you try this?
Happy growing!
