Quarantine Dinner Salisbury Steak
This easy recipe is great for when you can't figure out what to make for dinner. Serve it with mashed potatoes for the perfect meal!
Salisbury Steak
serves 2-3 total cooking time: 45 mins
Salisbury Steak patties ingredients
- 1lb lean ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1 slice of bread
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup oatmeal
- 1/2 small onion diced
- 2 tbsp parsley minced
- 2 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
gravy ingredients
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 small onion
- 2 mushrooms sliced
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp ketchup
- salt and pepper to taste
directions
- in a medium bowl combine steak ingredients, form 4 patties, push a little in the middle to create a quarter size indent to help steak evenly cook
- preheat a medium cast-iron skillet on medium/high
- slice onions thinly, add 1 tbsp olive oil, and cook until golden, remove and set aside
- add mushrooms, cook for 2 minutes, remove and set aside with onions
- return skillet to medium, add 1 tbsp olive oil, add patties
- cook patties for 12-15 minutes depending on thickness. flip every 4 minutes
- remove, cover, and set aside
- let the skillet cool and turn to low
- in a small bowl add 4 tbsp flour to 2 cups of beef broth, whisk well
- add the mixture to the pan, continue whisking, add 1 tbsp ketchup and Worcestershire sauce
- let it come to a light simmer and thicken
- add saute onions and mushrooms, mix well, return the patties, and cover in gravy
- continue to simmer for 5 minutes
- serve warm with mashed potatoes or egg noodles
