Keep it Moving - Vietnamese Shaken Beef 'Bo Luc Lac'


I love the sweet and tangy flavor of this Vietnamese dish, especially with this yummy peanut sauce. Give it a try!



Vietnamese Shaken Beef 'Bo Luc Lac'

Serves 4 Total Cooking Time: 45 mins



Vietnamese Shaken Beef ingredients
  • 1 1/2 lb sirloin beef cubed
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp fish sauce or Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil
  • 1/2 cup snow peas
  • 1/2 cup sweet peppers
  • 3 mushrooms
vinaigrette ingredients
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
dipping sauce ingredients
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter or almond butter
  • 1/2 tsp chili pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp water
serve with:
  • watercress or arugula
  • tomatoes thinly sliced
  • cucumbers thinly sliced
  • carrots thinly sliced
  • sweet onions thinly sliced
  • toasted crushed peanuts
  • cooked rice
directions
  1. combine beef with marinade and let sit for at least 1 hour
  2. combine vinaigrette and set aside
  3. combine dipping sauce and set aside
  4. prepare rice and fresh side veggies, add cucumbers, carrots, and sweet onion into a bowl with 1 tbsp of vinaigrette
  5. preheat a wok on medium/high, add cooking oil
  6. add a single layer of beef onto wok, let it cook for 1 minute, using spatula flip beef, let cook for 1 minute, finish by continuously "shaking" the beef
  7. cook until desired tenderness, usually about 4 minutes,
  8. add in sliced veggies, snow peas, sweet peppers, mushrooms, cook for 3 minutes
  9. add vinaigrette and let cook for 2 minutes
  10. coat veggies and beef well
  11. serve with rice and fresh veggies
  12. garnish with crush peanuts
